Client money
Money held for someone else, distinct from your own business revenue.
Client money is money your business receives or holds on behalf of another person. In property management, rent collected for a landlord is not automatically the agency’s income.
The agency records its obligation to the landlord separately from any fee it earns. The precise banking, safeguarding and reconciliation requirements depend on the jurisdiction and contract.
In PropertyFlow, rent receipts are treated as client money, while agency fees are posted under the applicable agreement. Compare receipts, fees, deductions and owner payments before releasing a statement.
